TEACHER LEADER PROJECT
Intervention Protocols: Creating a Shared Goal
Teacher Leader Project / How it Informs My Teacher Leadership Development
For my Teacher Leadership Project, I created a presentation on the intervention protocols for the grade-level teachers and presented this information at a staff meeting. The goal of this leadership project was to create a shared common goal for our students through collaboration to ultimately lead to building community within our school. With the intervention team, we created and developed a powerpoint presentation that outlined the goals of the reading intervention team. We outlined the eligibility for students to share a common understanding with the grade-level teachers that we work with. The audience for this presentation was grade-level teachers at our weekly staff meeting. We then provided grade-level teachers with an in-depth understanding of student goals within intervention. After the presentation, I assessed the teacher audience satisfaction of the presentation by incorporating time for reflection at the end of the presentation. Teachers had the opportunity to share their thoughts on the presentation and they completed a survey as well.
This project will inform my teacher leadership development by giving me the opportunity to build community within our school. This was possible through collaboration and creating shared goals with the grade level teams that intervention works with (kindergarten through third grade). It also supported my leadership development by creating a shared vision for intervention and the protocols and eligibility requirements. This shared explanation supported the other teachers to gain a deeper understanding of their role for their struggling students and how we can support them together. It also created an opportunity for teachers to share their concerns and when answering their questions I was able to grow as a leader by showing my problem solving skills.
Description of the Presentation / Participants Engagement
During the presentation, participants were actively engaged. This was shown through their questions and attentiveness during the presentation. When prompted to “try it” in the presentation, the audience was sharing amongst themselves and digesting the information that was presented to them. After they worked with their grade level teams with answering questions, each team shared their insight and how they completed the question during their collaboration. In addition, at the end of the presentation all grade level teachers completed the survey and the results showed strong satisfaction with the presentation.

-Powerpoint Slides: The powerpoint presentation used during the presentation
-Presentation Handouts:The handout given to teachers to follow along during the presentation was a printed version of the powerpoint slide with 4 slides per page. Teachers utilized this printed document to take notes during the presentation.
-Teacher Leadership Project Notes - The notes outline the presentation and the information that will be provided to the teachers.
-Teacher Survey - The survey that teachers completed after the presentation. We gave teachers both the option of completing a digital or printable survey. For teachers that did not have their device on them, we inputed their scoring for the survey. Most teachers had their technology devices with them.
Assessment of Participant Satisfaction:
Participant satisfaction was assessed through a survey with three questions. Each of the questions gave insight into the effectiveness of the presentation. It also assessed if the goal was met when the protocols and eligibility criteria was portrayed during the lesson. Teachers showed a high approval rate with most teachers selecting a 3 (yes response) on the survey. To access the survey click the link Teacher Survey.
