TECHNOLOGY-ENHANCED CHOICE BOARD
This technology-enhanced choice board was created to support student’s reading comprehension. Students will select from three choices that are all online activities and determine how they would like to practice and enhance their reading comprehension.
The first choice is selecting a text from the website Starfall, students will read along and retell the story after to assess their comprehension. The second choice is to listen to a story from our digital class library. The class library includes a number of slides that I created with videos that retell various stories. The library includes various genres of text allowing for further choice. Students will also be assessed by retelling the story. The final choice is to play a boom card on the boom learning site. Students will listen to a short passage and answer retell comprehension questions. After students complete the assignment, I am able to view their answers and what areas of reteach are needed.
The activities meet the ISTE standards for students, because students become empowered learners as they navigate new learning environments that are digital. They must advance their learning through digital activities. Students are also creative communicators as they take what they learned from the digital activity and apply it to an assessment of their learning. Students are given multiple choices to show what they have learned about retelling a story.
